This year’s AGM will be held on April 25, 2021 (online). I am unable to attend this year’s virtual meeting but have arranged for another school to take our votes by proxy. As a result, we need to submit our votes on the proposed resolutions by April 23 at 8am.
Any interested Nellie parent is invited to vote on the resolutions. I will tally the votes and compile a position for our school.
The resolutions are voted on as is, with a yes or no vote. After you have reviewed the resolutions, please complete the google forms below and I will compile and submit our votes based on the majority for each resolution.
I realize this is a substantial amount of content for interested parents to review. As your representative on PAC I am working toward having a dedicated council meeting in the future to discuss these resolutions at length each year in March when they come out. In lieu of that, this year I would like to share a resource document from a non-partisan, non-profit public education advocacy group fighting for the rights of all children to an equitable and accessible public education system. Although not affiliated with SOS, I and the chair of your Nellie PAC are in agreement with this voting guide for your consideration. Thank you for your participation. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions this year, we are unable to raise funds through the traditional community building in person events we have come to know and love within the Nellie community.
Therefore, it is more important than ever to focus our efforts into areas where we can positively impact and further advance the education of our students and support our teachers at Nellie McClung.
The school has identified the buckets of technology and arts as requiring additional funding and have set a fundraising goal of $20,000.
If you can support our great school, students and teachers please consider making a financial contribution to our 2020/2021 Fill Our Buckets campaign.
Your donation will have an impact on ensuring our students receive the best education possible and will be used to further support advancements in technology based learning and artistic expression. Donations can be made through signup genius, cheque or e-transfer to email@example.com.
All donations over $20 will receive a tax receipt for the year the donation was made. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS IF YOU WOULD LIKE A TAX RECEIPT.
The Fill our Buckets campaign will run from December 2020 through January 2021.If you would like a tax receipt for the 2020 year, please make your donation prior to December 31, 2020.
Please find below a link to the October Council of School Councils (COSC) meeting. Usually an in-person gathering of representatives from all CBE parent councils, the meeting has moved online and is more easily shared with interested parents. The presentation included COVID funding and supplies updates, an update on Hub Learning, updates on the Ministerial order process, some general reminders about the roles of school councils vs. parent societies, and some new guidelines on fundraising. The video goes on to record a q&A with school trustees and parents. LINK: Oct. 22 CBE Council of School Council meeting
